Alastair James Stewart OBE is a well-known English journalist and newscaster. He was born on June 22, 1952 in England. After appearing for ITV News for many years, he started working as a presenter for GB News in 2021.
He has been recognized as the News Presenter of the Year by the Royal Television Society on two separate occasions. After working for Southern Television for three years, Stewart moved on to ITN in 1980 and eventually became a main newsreader for ITV News.
Stewart began his career in television in 1976 when he joined Southern Television. After serving in both local and national news broadcasts for a combined 44 years, he maintained his position as the longest-serving male newsreader on British television by remaining in this position for more than 35 years.
After admitting to multiple “errors of judgement” in his use of social media that violated ITN editorial guidelines, he resigned from his position as a presenter for ITV News in January of 2020.
His departure came about as a result of this. Since the summer of 2020, he has been filling in as a host for TalkRadio when necessary.
He is the patron of a variety of different charitable organizations, some of which are Kids for Kids (an organization that helps children in Darfur), Scope (an organization that helps people with disabilities), and Brooke (an organization that helps working horses and donkeys).
