AIR7 HD video shows the man on a gurney as he is loaded into an ambulance to be taken to the hospital.
Witnesses at the show took to social media to say that the man ran up to the stage and tried to hit Chappelle.
He and Chappelle fought on stage, ABC News says. The man then ran away behind a screen on stage. They surrounded and tackled the man in the corner of the stage.
Chappelle looked like he was running toward the fight, saying that the man was being “stomped.” Chappelle asked security to remove the man from the stage over and over again.
When Chris Rock came on stage with Chappelle after the attack, he made a joke: “Was that Will Smith?”
LA police say they were called to the Hollywood Bowl around 10:45 p.m. and took a man into custody who was said to be carrying a gun and knife.
It looks like Chappelle was not hurt in the attack, and a video that was shared on social media showed him going on with the show.
Chappelle, who is 48, was part of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest, which was taking place.
