Lee Michael Zeldin (born January 30, 1980) is an American lawyer, member of Congress, and US Army Reserve officer.

He has served in the United States House of Representatives since 2015, representing New York’s 1st congressional district.

He represents Suffolk County’s eastern two-thirds, which includes most of Smithtown, Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southold, Southampton, East Hampton, Shelter Island, and a tiny piece of Islip.

Zeldin was a member of the New York State Senate representing the 3rd Senate District from 2011 until 2014.

Zeldin was a fervent Trump supporter throughout his administration. During Trump’s first impeachment proceedings over the Trump–Ukraine affair, he was a strong defender of the president.

Lee served in the United States Army from 2003 to 2007, mostly in the Military Intelligence Corps, after earning an Army ROTC rank as a second lieutenant. Lee also ran unopposed in the Republican primaries in 2018. In November’s general election, he faced Democratic candidate Perry Gershon, who also received the Working Families Party’s support. He beat Gershon by a margin of 51.5 percent to 47.4 percent.

Lee is running unopposed in the Republican primaries for president in 2020. On November 3, 2020, he defeated Democratic rival Nancy Goroff in the general election.
