MckourageYuhua Hamasaki is a Chinese-born American drag queen, singer, actor, and reality TV personality who gained international recognition on the tenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Yuhua Hamasaki, also known as Yuhua Ou, was born on March 1, 1990, in Guangzhou, China, and is 32 years old as of 2022. Hamasaki moved to New York City when they were seven years old. They started doing drag on the club kid scene under the name Yuhua and later added Hamasaki to their stage name after Japanese idol Ayumi Hamasaki.
Yuhua Hamasaki holds a business management degree from Pace University. Hamasaki has also designed outfits for other Drag Race alumni, including Aquaria, Bob the Drag Queen, Peppermint, Aja, Jiggly Caliente, Alexis Michelle, and Monét X Change. Yuhua Hamasaki was announced as a contestant on the tenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2018. Before appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Hamasaki was one of several drag queens featured in Katy Perry’s performance of “Swish Swish” on Saturday Night Live in May 2017. Hamasaki was eliminated in the third episode after losing a lip sync to “Celebrity Skin” by Hole against Mayhem Miller.
After Drag Race, Yuhua Hamasaki appeared with Laverne Cox in the music video for “Bruised” by Mila Jam. Hamasaki appeared in a commercial for VH1’s It Gets Better project, which supports LGBTQ youth. They were also featured in the video for Trinity the Tuck’s “I Call Shade” in February 2019. Yuhua Hamasaki gained popularity from their self-published YouTube series Bootleg Fashion Photo RuView.
Yuhua Hamasaki began reviewing the runway looks of the All-Stars four cast starting on December 4, 2018, with Biblegirl666. They started covering the looks from season eleven on February 22, 2019, with Blair St. Clair. Hamasaki also filled in for an episode of the actual Fashion Photo RuView on November 24, 2018, with Eureka O’Hara.
Yuhua Hamasaki was a guest at the 2019 Life Ball, along with Alaska Thunderfuck. In June 2019, Hamasaki was featured on the cover of New York Magazine with 36 other queens. Hamasaki is also known as a seamstress, dancer, and comedian. In 2018, Hamasaki released their first single “The Ankh Song.” The A music video was released on April 5, 2018. They currently reside in New York City.
